History In Service
|
The Long Tom Brake Van was used mainly on passenger trains for the transportation of goods, parcels, mail, luggage and departmental goods. Built between 1912 and1923 they survived in service into the 1960’s, one being preserved at the Pt Dock NRM. They were originally painted regal red, which faded to brown, with all receiving the hawthorn green and cream “Centenary” colours in 1936. One was repainted regal red at some stage later in its life.
