History in Service :       These wagons had been designed specifically for the coiled steel traffic. Many other wagons used for coil steel traffic had been converted from ELX open wagons to VOSX  or from E wagons to ESX (VODX) wagons. Two types of CSX wagon exist, the purpose built wagon which has small end platforms and the CSX which is built from R Tender under frame sections, these have no end platforms. To a lesser extent NSW coil steel wagons are also seen in this traffic, they being MCX, CCX and NCX.
