History in Service :      Originally built from CK pulverized brown coal transporters, the original 7 entered service as X1 thru X7 for the purpose of carrying cement. Due to an increase in traffic and the success of these conversions a further 70 vehicles were built from 1959. The last one to enter service in August 1962 was the last 4 wheeler built by the VR. Seven wagons were converted to FX bulk floor transport in 1961/62 with a further 5 wagons to follow. With the introduction of standard gauge in 1962 the FX wagons were recoded to FJ and the X wagons were recoded to J as the letter X was used to denote bogie exchange.
