History in Service :       These wagons had been designed specifically for the coiled steel traffic. Many other wagons used for coil steel traffic had been converted from ELX open wagons to VOSX and the VODX (ESX) are converted E wagons.  Two types of CSX wagon exist, the purpose built wagon which has small end platforms and the CSX which is built from R Tender under frame sections, these have no end platforms. To a lesser extent NSW coil steel wagons are also seen in this traffic, they being MCX, CCX and NCX.
