History in Service :       The CE brake vans were constructed in the Newport workshops in 1908 to 1914 to compliment the AE and BE passenger cars. The first 5 vans had a fish compartment and of these the first 4 vans were used in joint stock service on the "Overland". Later in there life the the wooden doors which had two windows were replaced with metal doors with a large single window.

Colour Schemes :         VR Passenger Car Red and then Blue and Yellow when diesels were introduced. Originally when painted red they had buff roofs and then later these were painted black before the introduction of the blue scheme.
