History in Service :           GQ and then GQX wagons owned by the CR were  used to transport ore from Beltana in the far north of  SA to Pt Pirie from 1970 thru 1978. After this they were converted to bogie exchange and used between Broken Hill and Osborn in Adelaide (Broad gauge). Being the same design as the SOC wagons they were integrated into that fleet, with GQ,  GQX and SO, SOC wagons becoming AOQX and AOQY after Sept 1979 with the general reclassification of wagons..  These wagons were widely distributed through the new standard gauge network, being lent to both WAGR and the NSWGR systems at various stages.
